Provide expert assistance in the management and enhancement of outdoor landscapes, prioritizing the health and aesthetic appeal of gardens, lawns, and green spaces. This position involves a range of horticultural practices, including planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, and shaping trees, shrubs, and flowers to ensure optimal growth and vitality. Additionally, the gardener is tasked with comprehensive lawn care, which encompasses mowing, edging, and the strategic application of pest and weed control measures. The role requires proficiency in operating and maintaining gardening tools and equipment, ensuring they are consistently in excellent working order. Collaboration with landscape architects or property owners to implement garden designs and seasonal maintenance plans is a critical aspect of this position. The gardener plays an indispensable role in sustaining the beauty, functionality, and meticulous upkeep of outdoor environments throughout the year.
Responsibilities
- Plant and care for flowers and shrubs.
- Use garden tools and manage watering.
- Control weeds and pests, and apply fertilizers.
- Care for pathways and garden spaces.
- Follow safety and environmental guidelines.
- Advise clients on garden care.
Must Have
- Experience in gardening and landscaping.
- Knowledge of plant care and soil health.
- Proficient with gardening tools.
- Able to work outdoors for long periods.
- Basic pest and weed control skills.
Nice to have
- Certification in horticulture or landscaping.
- Experience with organic gardening methods.
- Knowledge of climate-appropriate plants for Canadian weather conditions.
- Familiarity with greenhouse management.
- Ability to design and implement garden layouts.
